Jeverson Ramirez, a talented soul/pop artist from Grenada, has made history by becoming the first Grenadian artist to perform on the American Idol stage. Ramirez received a golden ticket on his audition for the ABC American Idol Show, which aired on Sunday night, giving him the opportunity to travel to Hollywood for the next round of competition.
Ramirez, who is from the village of Mardigras, St. George’s, has long been known for his sweet soulful voice and energetic performances at events throughout Grenada and beyond. His international flair and unique style caught the attention of the American Idol judges, particularly Lionel Richie, who praised his performance as the show celebrates its “twenty-first birthday around the world.”
In a video circulating on Facebook, Ramirez can be seen waving his Grenada flag and golden ticket with pride, representing the Spice Isle of the Caribbean. His achievement has been widely celebrated in Grenada, with Minister of State with responsibility for Youth and Sports, Hon. Ron Redhead, commending Ramirez for his perseverance and zeal in pursuing his musical dreams. Minister Redhead stated that Ramirez’s achievement speaks volumes of the talents that young Grenadians possess, and he is a living example that dreams come true if you remain focused.
The government of Grenada is committed to supporting and promoting the creative arts industry, which identifies, develops, and promotes the skills and creativity of the Grenadian people. The Office of Creative Affairs congratulates Jeverson Ramirez on his outstanding achievement and wishes him all the best in his upcoming competition. We look forward to seeing more Grenadian artists making their mark on the world stage.
